“JADRAN” Training Ship
One of the most beautiful sailboats in the world, built in Hamburg in 1931, and delivered in 1933 to the Adriatic guard in Split, which commissioned its construction. The ship is 60 m in length, 8.9 m wide; 4.05 m draft; 39.1 m high main mast (from the keel): 933 m² area of the sails; 490 HP and more than 11 km of various types of rope.

After capitulation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, it was captured by the Italians, and then by the Germans (1943). After WWII, the navy of the former Yugoslavia took it in its possession and in 1949, it was once again used as a training ship (navigating classroom for training future navy personnel). The blueprints for the “Jadran” were prepared by engineer Josip Škarica with ship fuel capacity of 24.5 t diesel. The ship has two kitchens, a bakery and infirmary, and as for arms, it has two salutary cannons (47 mm), two old machineguns (7.9 mm) for possible anti-aircraft protection, as well as 56 guns. The ship’s crew consisted of 12 officers, 36 non-commissioned officers and 108 sailors.

In 1990, the ship was brought to Tivat for an overhaul, which was supposed to last 18 months. However, due to the aggression on Croatia at the time, the ship remains in Montenegro to this day.
